Immigration Rights for Students & Families

Hello Thunderbird Families,

Because we have been receiving many requests regarding immigration information, we wanted to share the following with our Thunderbird Community.

EVERYONE on United States soil has constitutional rights regardless of citizenship and/or immigration status.  To assist our community with knowing their rights, we have "Red Cards" available for anyone who wishes to have them (see the images below).   The left side of the card explains your constitutional rights (in English on one side AND Spanish on the other side), as well as wording on the right side to explain your rights to others.  These cards can be folded to fit in your wallet. 

If you are interested in receiving one or more of these cards, please do one of the following:

• Come into the front office and ask for copies,
• Call the school to request that they be sent home with your child, or
• Reply to this post and/or message your classroom teacher (or Principal Theresa Diaz) with your request.

Additionally, we have attached copies of documents (in English and Spanish) outlining your child's right to a free public education.  If your family speaks another language other than English or Spanish, please request a copy in your home language and we will try to procure a copy for you in your language of preference.

If you have any questions or would like further assistance, please contact the school and we can provide support, assistance, and advice about your rights.  We support you and we are here to help.
