Immigration Rights for Students & Families

Hello Thunderbird Families,

Because we have been receiving many requests regarding immigration information, we wanted to share the following with our Thunderbird Community.

EVERYONE on United States soil has constitutional rights regardless of citizenship and/or immigration status.  To assist our community with knowing their rights, we have "Red Cards" available for anyone who wishes to have them (see the images below).   The left side of the card explains your constitutional rights (in English on one side AND Spanish on the other side), as well as wording on the right side to explain your rights to others.  These cards can be folded to fit in your wallet. 

If you are interested in receiving one or more of these cards, please do one of the following:

  • Come into the front office and ask for copies,
  • Call the school to request that they be sent home with your child, or
  • Reply to this post and/or message your classroom teacher (or Principal Theresa Diaz) with your request.


Additionally, we have attached copies of documents (in English and Spanish) outlining your child's right to a free public education.  If your family speaks another language other than English or Spanish, please request a copy in your home language and we will try to procure a copy for you in your language of preference.

If you have any questions or would like further assistance, please contact the school and we can provide support, assistance, and advice about your rights.  We support you and we are here to help.

The Family Resource Centers (FRC) are a place of support and resources that provide targeted services based on the needs and interests of families.

The staff are here to help families become better equipped at building a healthy home! 

Walk-ins are always welcome!

The FRC offers:

  • Help finding food, clothing, and shelter
  • Adult social, health & wellness groups
  • Parenting, relationship, and fatherhood classes
  • Application assistance
  • Connection with school resources & assistance with school forms
  • Assistance with any of these programs:
    • Cash Aid, CalFresh, Medical (new & renewals). Please call 805-722-5770 for an appt.

Los centros de recursos familiares (FRC) son un lugar de apoyo y recursos que brindan servicios específicos basados en las necesidades e intereses de las familias.

¡El personal está aquí para ayudar a las familias a estar major preparadas para construer un hogar saludable!

¡Las personas sin cita previa siempre son bienvenidas!

Centros de Recursos Familiares (FRC) ofrecen:

  • Ayuda para encontrar comida, ropa y refugio
  • Grupos sociales de salud y bienestar para adultos
  • Clases para padres, de pareja y paternidad
  • Asistencia con solicitudes
  • Conexión con recursos escolares y asistencia con formularios escolares
  • Asistencia con alguno de estos programas:
    • Cash Aid, CalFresh, Medical (para solicitudes nuevas y renovaciones).
